Suspect Arrested In Church Theft

 DeWitt  Police Chief of Police Eugene J. Conway reports that the DeWitt Police Department arrested Tony M. Lynch, 56 years old of Syracuse, NY, after an investigation into a stolen vehicle from Holy Cross Church on E. Genesee St in the Town of DeWitt.  Lynch is accused of walking into Holy Cross church on January 7th at 7:45am and taking keys to a vehicle from a coat pocket found inside the church and then used the vehicle’s key fob to locate the 2007 Volvo in the parking lot.  He then drove off with the vehicle.  

 Lynch was charged with Grand Larceny in the third degree.  He was arraigned by Town of DeWitt Justice Robert L. Jokl, Jr. and remanded to the Justice Center and .  DeWitt Police Investigators identified Lynch through surveillance video.    This arrest was related to other incidents investigated by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
