Police Arrest Man Who Nearly Drives Into Syracuse Home

A Syracuse man who put his car in the yard of a Midland Avenue home will be facing DWI and other charges, thanks to neighbors who kept him from fleeing.

Syracuse police say the responded to a call about a car crashing into a home, but found that the car hadn't actually hit the house. Officers on the scene also discovered the driver of the car, who attempted to flee the scene, was restrained by neighbors until police arrived. Officers say driver Michael Hunter of Syracuse also struck a parked car and a utility pole before driving into the yard of the home. Police charged Hunter with a number of offenses including aggravated driving while intoxicated, for having a blood alcohol level above .18. No one was injured.
