Oswego County Man Arrested At Public Pool

An Oswego County man has been arrested after police say he refused to stop dunking the heads of young children underwater at a public pool and then became abusive towards police.

20 year old Eugene Bessette has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing and Resisting arrest after the incident at the Town of Scriba public pool.

The strange incident began when police say Bessette held some children under water by their heads, which is prohibited in public pools. He was asked to stop by lifeguards and pool officials, but refused, and kept dunking children under water.

Eventually, the police showed up, but he refused to get out of the pool and became verbally abusive to police officers and other staff and he allegedly refused to allow police to place handcuffs on him.

Bessette was eventually placed in cuffs and was ordered to appear in Town of Scriba Court July 25th.

Sheriff's Deputies say none of the children who were being dunked were hurt, and they have no explanation for his behavior.
