Hannibal Man Pleads Guilty To Rape

An Oswego County man has entered a plea after he was arrested for raping a young girl and then fleeing to Canada.

Joseph Elliof of Hannibal pleaded guilty today to raping a four year old girl in Lysander in 2011. After his arrest then, he skipped bail and fled to Canada and was caught near Montreal after someone he met in a tavern there called police.

James Blevings is being praised by police for making the call and putting the cops on his trail.  Elliof will be sentenced next month and is expected to get 15 years behind bars on a charge of First Degree Rape. As part of his plea, he avoids a longer sentence on more serious charges.
