Gov. Andrew Cuomo has deployed 250 National Guard members to help the recovery effort in the flood-damaged Mohawk Valley region.
Cuomo says Tuesday the members will use 27 pieces of heavy equipment to help residents and businesses impacted by heavy rain and flooding that started late last month.
He says 35 military police soldiers with Humvee vehicles will help local police with security efforts.
Cuomo declared a state of emergency because of flooding in 15 counties in central and northern New York on Saturday.
Hundreds of homes have been damaged from flooding. In Fort Plain, 70 buildings were damaged and a woman was missing. In Oneida, 150 homes were evacuated when the creek jumped its banks Friday.
