New York - Former New York Gov. David Paterson and his wife have officially filed for divorce, more than a year after saying they were separating.
A representative for the Democratic former governor said Tuesday that he and Michelle Paige Paterson have already finalized the terms. She didn't immediately return a call to her office.
Divorce papers were filed in Manhattan last week. The Patersons separated in September 2012, calling the decision ``mutual and amicable.''
They remain friendly. Paterson's rep, Sean Darcy, says they dined together with their children Jan. 12.
Then-Lt. Gov. Paterson became governor when Eliot Spitzer resigned amid a prostitution scandal in 2008.
The Patersons soon held a news conference at which both said they'd had affairs.
Spitzer and his wife, Silda Wall Spitzer, announced they were splitting last month.
