Fitzpatrick: Murbro Parking Committed No Crime

Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick says Murbro Parking has agreed to pay the city of Syracuse $125,000 to compensate them for underpayments, although he says no crime was committed by them.

The Post-Standard reports that Fitzpatrick's office has been investigating allegations brought by Mayor Stephanie Miner that Murbro was stealing the city's parking garage revenues. A 16-month investigation revealed that Murbro had shortchanged the city, but not with intent. Fitzpatrick called it sloppy bookkeeping by Murbro and a lack of oversight by the city. An assistant corporation counsel for the city says they will review Fitzpatrick's deal but have not ruled out their own civil suit to recover money they say is legally owed to the city by Murbro.
